SUMMARY:Get Involved with your Industry Organizations to Grow your Career
DESCRIPTION:Join the ACEC-BC YPG for a virtual event focused on the right volunteer opportunities to advance your career with guest speaker Ian Steele.\n\n\nGetting involved can benefit you in many ways — from networking to the feel-good aspect of volunteering\, to developing lasting personal and professional relationships. Yet\, time is limited\, and with a busy career and social life\, you can’t possibly get involved with all the organizations in which you might be interested or with those who want you as a volunteer. How do you decide which organizations are right for you? You have to consider your objectives in terms of how your service helps fulfill your own professional development goals\, your employer’s desire to bring in and keep business\, the nature and value of the support you can offer\, and the needs of the organizations that are relevant to you. Volunteering matters: to you and to the organizations you choose to support. \nCost: \n\nACEC-BC Member: $10\nNon-member: $25\n\nFormat: Zoom \nAbout the Speaker \nIan Steele\, President\, PBX Engineering \nIan Steele is the President of PBX Engineering Ltd. Over his 23-year career\, Ian has worked with a diverse portfolio of clients across Canada and the US\, developing a unique level of understanding in the design and deployment of complex transportation\, industrial\, and security projects\, where software and systems integration often play a pivotal role. He holds the position of Chairperson and CEO on the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Canada Board and is a Director on the Board of ACEC-BC.
