DESCRIPTION:Construction Risk Management\n\n\nJoin ACEC-BC’s Young Professionals Group on November 30th for a virtual event on “Construction Risk Management” with guest speakers: \n\nKeivan Rafie\, P.Eng\, M Sc.\, PMP ENV SP\, CDT\, PE (Australia)\, Deputy Regional Director\, Tunnels\, Hatch \nSairindhri Chakraborty\, M.Eng.\, B.Tech (Civil Engineering)\, Engineer in Training\, Tunnels\, Hatch \n\nConstruction risk management paves a way to evaluate and implement procedures to reduce the impact of risks in construction projects. The risk management process involves thorough planning to create a risk management plan that allows project managers to identify\, monitor and mitigate risks as they arise.  \nThis event explores construction risk management principles and examples from our guest’s experience in over 20 years of past projects. Although Financial\, schedule\, and design risks exist in all projects\, through careful consideration\, planning\, and management the risks can be mitigated\, and negative outcomes prevented. Keivan and Sairindhri will talk about the importance of identifying and managing risks in a project while highlighting the various categories of risks that a project can potentially encounter. In addition\, the speakers will provide an overview of best practice approaches adapted for risk management and associated tools to combat project risks.  \nPD Hours: 1 hour \nCost: ACEC-BC member: Free | Non member: $15 \n\n\n\nAbout the speakers\n \nKeivan Rafie\, P.Eng\, M Sc.\, PMP ENV SP\, CDT\, PE (Australia) \nDeputy Regional Director\, Tunnels\, Hatch \nKeivan is the Deputy Regional Director for Hatch’s Tunnel Practice in Vancouver and has 20 years of experience in tunnelling\, mining\, and ground improvement projects.  \nHe has been involved in projects in Canada\, the UK\, the Middle East\, Australia and the United States\, using tunnelling methods such as Drill and Blast\, SEM\, TBM\, and a range of trenchless methods. \n \nSairindhri Chakraborty\, M.Eng.\, B.Tech (Civil Engineering) \nEngineer in Training\, Tunnels\, Hatch \nSairindhri Chakraborty is a Tunnel Engineer (EIT) at Hatch\, Vancouver. A recent graduate from the University of British Columbia\, Sairindhri pursued her masters in Civil Engineering.  \nPrior to this\, she graduated with a bachelors in Civil Engineering. During this time\, she was one of the few selected students who had the opportunity to study one school year at University of California\, Davis where she worked on various courses which further her interest in the field of construction.  \nHer previous experience as a co-op student involved working in Wastewater Treatment Plant with emphasis on physical and chemical treatment processes. During her internships she has also taken up Project Management roles majorly focusing on contracts\, scheduling and stakeholder management.
