DESCRIPTION:November 19\, 2025 | In-person in Kelowna\n\n\nJoin ACEC-BC’s Future Leaders Network in Kelowna for a in-person breakfast event on Leadership and Management\n\nWith a less than conventional career path and two competing fermentation passions\, guest speaker Karen Sutherland will present on how engineers can effectively navigate their technical career paths\, with a focus on opportunities for growth and strategies for building long-term professional success. It will address the challenges and opportunities that arise at different stages of professional development\, from early career choices to advanced technical specialization and leadership roles. The discussion will consider pros and cons of technical vs. project management paths and elicit questions from attendees. \n  \n🎤 About Karen \nWater & Wastewater Engineer\, McElhanney \nKaren has 30+ years of experience in W/WW treatment including leading a group of 33 technical staff\, developing a company internal PM course\, 4+ years of full-time on-site WTP / WWTP start-up and commissioning\, 2 years of laboratory and pilot plant experience.
