DESCRIPTION:Hybrid Event  |  June 15\, 2023\n\n\nThe Annual General Meeting of the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies – British Columbia (ACEC-BC\, the “Association”) will be held on Thursday\, June 15\, 2023\, at 4:30PM PDT. \nThe meeting will be held for the purposes of: \n\nReceiving the Annual Report of the Association\nElecting the Board of Directors of the Association\n\nIn addition to this business\, the meeting will include a Special Resolution to adopt changes to the Association Constitution and Bylaws. Materials to support the Special Resolution will be issued to members in advance of the meeting. \nTo support broad member engagement\, this year’s AGM will be hosted as a hybrid event. Members are required to indicate their attendance venue during registration. \nIn-person attendance: Pan Pacific Vancouver (Pacific Rim Suite 1) \, 999 Canada Pl #300\, Vancouver\, BC V6C 3B5 \nVirtual attendance: Members wishing to attend virtually will be provided with access details 24-hours prior to the start of the event. \nAll attendees are afforded the same rights and opportunities regarding questions\, voting\, and motions. DESCRIPTION:June 22\, 2023  |  Virtual Event\n\n\nJoin ACEC-BC’s Young Professionals Group for a virtual event on Breaking Barriers: Achieving Accessibility\, Equity\, Diversity\, and Inclusion in Engineering Design. \nPD Hours: 1 hour \nCost: ACEC-BC member: Free | Non member: $15 \nOur guest speaker will be drawing from his experiences as an accessibility and inclusion advocate who has served on a number of committees within the Lower Mainland\, including TransLink’s Access Transit User’s Advisory Committee and the City of Vancouver’s Persons with Disability Advisory Committee.  Attendees can expect to come away from this session with a deeper understanding of actions that young professionals can take to achieve accessibility\, equity\, diversity\, and inclusion in engineering design and in their engineering community. \nAbout the speaker  \nYat Li\, Senior Accessibility Consultant\, Presidents Group \nYat Li is a Hong Kong-Canadian who was born without ears and is Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Despite facing immense obstacles in life\, Yat persevered through challenges and discovered that self-disclosure unlocks a world of possibilities. He is now a highly sought-after speaker in North America\, inspiring industry leaders that congenital disability does not define a person’s career path. Yat is an accessibility and inclusion advocate who travels the world\, speaking to thousands of senior leaders about the importance of diversity and inclusivity. Yat’s passion is to remove the stigma from hiring people with disabilities and inspire people to overcome every visible or invisible disability.
