He has had a 22-year career as a consulting civil engineer\, during which he has collaborated with six different firms\, three municipalities\, and a private utility. Though all this\, his focus has been consistent—land development for housing and infrastructure. James has taught both accredited term and short courses\, inspiring and guiding others towards a rewarding career in civil engineering. James has contributed to projects across the country and throughout the province\, with a particular fondness for the impact his work has had in the Okanagan. His commitment to service extends beyond his professional capacity\, as he has been actively involved in association boards and finds great satisfaction in giving back to the community. James first became involved with ACEC-BC in 2005 and has since held various positions within the organization\, including serving on the ACEC-BC YPG\, Board\, and the Okanagan Organizing Committee.
