The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies – British Columbia (ACEC-BC) elected a new Board of Directors at their July 18 annual general meeting (AGM).
Taking over as Chair of the Board is Tanya Sadlo, LL.B., ICD.D, Executive Vice President Internal Operations & General Counsel from McElhanney, Vancouver.

Following the AGM, the Board appointed two new members to the Executive Committee. Ian Steele, P.Eng. (PBX Engineering) joins the Executive as Vice Chair, and William Johnston (WSP Canada) as Secretary. Suzanne Powell, Ph.D., P.Eng., (Thurber Engineering) continues with the Executive Committee as Past Chair.
Reporting at the AGM, Richard Bush, P.Eng., MBA, PMP, Chair, Nominations Committee shared that we continue to benefit from a diverse and experienced pool of candidates for the Board. He noted, “each candidate for the Board brings a unique perspective informed by their role, organization, region, and personal characteristics. Viewed together with continuing Directors, we can ensure that the Board adequately reflects the diversity of our entire membership.” In addition to Tanya Sadlo and Joe DiPlacito, P.Eng., PMP (Ram Consulting) who were re-elected at the AGM, ACEC-BC members elected two new Directors: Kip Skabar, P.Eng., PE, ENV SP (Stantec), and Lillian Siu, M.A.Sc., P.Eng. (Associated Engineering).
Continuing Directors were also recognized by members for their on-going service. Joining the new Chair and newly elected Directors are returning Directors Kathryn Ekman (McElhanney), Imran Gehlen (AECOM), Matt Gellis (Northwest Hydraulic Consultants), William Johnston (WSP), Erin Martin-Serrano (PBX Engineering), Jay Rao (exp), Christopher Scollard (Kiewit Engineering Group), Ian Steele (PBX Engineering), and Hannelie Stockenstrom (AtkinsRéalis). The Board also appointed four Directors for a one-year term including Darren Gervais-Harrison (PBX Engineering), Tim Stanley (Stratice Consulting), Selena Wilson (Mott MacDonald Canada), and Jeff McLellan (BFL Canada).
Better Together:
Executive reports to members reinforced the importance of ‘better together’, which supports ACEC-BC to develop valuable member resources and advance the business of consulting engineering in BC. Reports paid particular attention to release of provincial standard contracts for architectural and engineering assignments, announced by ACEC-BC in January.
